Tour this waterfront retreat equipped with a smart home
With gorgeous layers of light, an enhanced entertainment setup and a complete home automation system, the smart home automation experts at Wipliance teamed up with owner Stancraft Boats + Stancraft Construction (Coeur D’Alene, Idaho) to create the perfect smart home retreat. On the banks of the Spokane River.
In the video below, Stancraft owner Robb Bloem discusses the journey from their storied history of building and restoring wooden boats to creating a custom building industry. With the goal of creating jobs and providing a premium product to Idahoans, Stancraft has partnered with Wipliance to help bring their customers’ dreams to reality through luxury home technology and automation solutions in their custom projects.
Designer Erik Hedlund discusses material specifications similar to those used in boat construction to pay tribute to family history, as well as the importance of well-designed lighting in a project. Wipliance’s use of smart lighting solutions like Ketra by Lutron allows the homeowner to take advantage of natural light in this interior/exterior design. Plus, the full spectrum of colors complements the stunning backdrop at sunset – and one touch can transform the entire home into a relaxing or lively environment. Each combination can be individually controlled for maximum flexibility. All layers of light are easily managed thanks to the Lutron Homeworks QSX system with Palladiom keypads that offer clearly labeled buttons.
With the largest operational window wall in the Pacific Northwest, it was important to be able to control the natural daylight streaming into the home. Lutron’s automated tinting solutions offer a wide range of large window applications to the elegant Palladiom aesthetic to suit all of a home’s shading needs.
This house was built for entertaining, so it was essential to have TVs, speakers and sound systems placed in all the right places – both indoors and outdoors. Wipliance uses a motorized TV stand to tuck away the kitchen TV when not in use, and Samsung’s outdoor Terrace TVs can withstand the harsh elements and are made for direct sunlight exposure.
No homeowner wants to spend hours managing their home technology, so it’s important that these systems are easy to use and fun to own. Wipliance used the Control4 home automation system to allow the homeowner to manage lights, shades, security, audio/video, and more from home or wherever they are using a mobile app.
