Florida’s Gulf Coast is known for its citrus-hued sunsets, white-sand beaches, and palm trees swaying in the breeze. But what was once a dreamy reality has turned into a more dangerous adventure, replaced, thanks to climate change, by less enticing visions of devastating hurricanes, storms, and devastating floods.

For luxury buyers who still want to enjoy the coastal views of the Sunshine State, the solution is to move on. In this case, to a 21st-floor mansion in the sky in Naples, Florida, that includes a spacious 3,568-square-foot rooftop retreat overlooking miles of secluded beaches. Penthouse 4 is located atop the four-year-old Mystique residential tower in the rapidly developing Pelican Bay area just north of downtown Naples, a short golf cart ride from the iconic Ritz-Carlton resort.

This 5,700-square-foot, four-bedroom residence with a flex-use room offers panoramic views from every room; Hurricane-resistant floor-to-ceiling windows emphasize the site while ultra-custom finishes create a cohesive interior palette. During the construction phase, the homeowner commissioned a local specialist in millwork, the Thomas Riley Guild of Craftsmen, to fabricate the intricate ceiling treatments and doors which were carefully lifted into the unit via cranes.

The rooftop amenities—pool, outdoor kitchen, entertainment and dining areas—have sweeping views of the bay.

Additionally, the owner’s love of French Lalique glass is on full display in the interior foyer, which displays a rare 1920s ceiling piece sourced from the Paris Salon. Another Lalique chandelier takes pride of place in the dining area, its exquisite leaf-shaped details softening the lighting of the fixtures.

In each of the home’s five bathrooms, the soaring decor scheme is complemented by mid-century modern crystal sconces designed by some of Europe’s finest lighting and glassmaking houses, including Barovier & Toso, Orrefors and Atelier Jean Perzel. One of the signature features of the spacious primary suite is the custom-designed full-width leather wall behind the bed.

While pristine Pelican Bay Beach is just a short walk away, most sun lovers will be happy to walk up the home’s private stairs to the large glass-framed terrace with large pool, outdoor kitchen, entertainment and dining areas. From here you have your own private resort, with ocean views and all the amenities you could need.

The penthouse is currently listed for $24.9 million with Tim Savage of Naples-based Gulf Coast International Properties.
