The New San Antonio café is the first business to open in a unique renovation project

Located on East Ashby Place, Crème Coffee & Social is a new coffee concept that aims to embody the atmosphere of a classic European café – and the first of five concepts set to make up The Creamery, a mixed-use complex near the Pearl District that revitalizes an old dairy.

The Crème uses locally roasted beans from Pulp Coffee and fresh, 100% vegan pastries from Cake Thieves Bakery. The décor alone is worth a photo (or two) with furniture in vibrant emerald greens and purples, among classic paintings with modern twists adorning the walls.

In addition to coffee, pastries and sandwiches, Crème also has “a variety of wines, bubbles and carajillos,” Angela Burns, concept manager for Only One Hospitality, told CultureMap.

Instead of having one day of specials for the grand opening, Crème has an entire week full of deals planned. Starting November 6, guests will be able to get their caffeine fix and receive additional rewards depending on the day of their visit.

The grand opening week specials are as follows:

  • Monday, November 6: $2 iced coffee
  • Tuesday, November 7: 2 drinks for 1
  • Wednesday, November 8: Free t-shirt with purchase
  • Thursday, November 9: Buy a pastry and get a $1 regular coffee
  • Friday, November 10: Free drip coffee
  • Saturday, November 11: Climax to Crème’s grand opening party, with free lattes for the first 50 visitors, a mimosa bar, giveaways and more.

According to Only One Hospitality, the group behind Crème (and other companies, like Costa Pacific), there are tentative plans to expand the café’s opening hours for night-time fans, but details have yet to be confirmed.

“We wanted to curate a beautiful adult coffee spot that’s perfect for a social gathering or a private break with non-traditional hours,” says Melanie Barrows, general manager of The Creamery. “We believe that caffeine and sweets shouldn’t just be a morning affair.”

Coffee and social cream

Launching a trail of multiple projects aimed at revitalizing the historic Borden Dairy, Crème is set to be followed by a seafood restaurant, Hook – Land and Sea, this winter; an underground lounge called Easy Baby; Amelia’s social lounge; And finally Lunatique, a rooftop garden bar located above Amelia.
