The interiors of an abandoned plane have been transformed into a retail store dressed in all-over orange in Alor Gajah, Malacca, Malaysia.

The project, called Coach Airways Store and Café, was designed by the Shanghai- and Kuala Lumpur-based architecture firm Astronauts and trainers in New York to provide a sense of the illustrious golden age of air travel in the 1970s.

The 420 square meter project was conceived as a renovation of the interiors of an abandoned Boeing 747 jumbo jet. The design adds a retro-futuristic ode to 1970s air travel.

The orange color is enhanced by bright lights and clean, light-colored surfaces and details.

The store also has a small circular-shaped café on the back side of the plane.

The forward section of the aircraft has a first class cabin that serves as a store, while other sections include a retail class 1 cabin and a retail class 2 cabin, which serves as an extension of the store.

At the back there is a Coach Airways café to serve its customers. Cashier and stock rooms are located between the retail class 2 cabins and the café.

“The aircraft’s design pays tribute to the illustrious golden age of air travel in the 1970s, and weaves together retro-futuristic elements for a unique experience,” he said. Astronauts.

“The aircraft has four pilot cabins with design cues and a color palette that would look perfectly at home on a Wes Anderson movie set,” the company added.
