Tenants at SoHi Lofts are demanding more communication from the building's owners and managers, following their eviction from the building on September 6.  Tenants may be out of their homes for months, according to the building's owners, Brinshore Development.  The tenants say they are currently staying at a hotel in Glendale.  They say they feel ignored by the building's owners and managers.  The Milwaukee Department of Neighborhood Services evacuated all 16 units, citing building safety concerns.  In order to get the tenants back into their homes, the city says Brinshore Development must repair the exterior stairs and porch structure.  Brainshore Development says this could take months.  However, tenants say officials never informed them of any timetable.  "We're all upset and tired and upset and we're not hearing anything. And that's a problem. It's a problem for all of us. At least tell us something," said tenant Demetria McGee-Multiple.  Renters described a breakdown in communication between them and the people in charge of SoHi Lofts, saying they only receive their information through letters placed under the hotel doors.  What they really want is a phone call.  No one came to the door when WISN 12 News visited the building's management company.  No one answered several phone calls.  But Brinshore Development tells WISN 12 News that an on-site property manager has been in contact with tenants, allowing them to return to their homes to take possession of their belongings.  We asked tenants if that was true.  "Coordination. So, I don't know about other people, but I haven't received any type of coordination with anyone," McGee said.  “We have permits and plans that will be submitted to the city tomorrow (Wednesday),” Brinshore Development told 12 News after a meeting with the city on Tuesday.  We've rushed our architect to get them ready, and we have a contractor ready to tear down the stairs and replace the entire system with new stairs," said Brinshore Development, LLC principal Richard Sciortino. However, the Department of Neighborhood Services says that as of Friday, they have not received a permit for the repair from Brinshore Development. When WISN 12 News reached out to Brinshore Development on Friday, this was the proposed plan provided by a 12 News spokesperson: The plan outlines porch and stair repairs being made in two phases. But tenants still don't have a specific timeline for returning to their homes, he said. McGee: “Tell us.  call us.  You've got our numbers, call us.''
