Textual description provided by the architects. Nine Villa is a project located in Bao Loc City, Vietnam. The house serves a family of three generations living together and is located next to the family business. The house has four floors and has a basement, five bedrooms and several different function rooms. Family members include grandparents, younger siblings, sister-in-law’s family, and two children. With a multi-storey house with a large area, moving the house from one floor to another or moving through the spatial spaces on the same floor will become longer and more difficult, and easy to get bored. This will gradually lose the bond between family members.
To overcome this, we created several skylights of different sizes in different locations to bring light into the house and create air convection. Along with green potted plants. Specifically to eliminate the feeling of distance between floors, we designed the stair landing into an entertainment area with lighting and greenery to create fun and excitement when climbing the stairs. Also, the basement is the first place you enter the house, so you don’t get bored and have to leave immediately. We created a more enjoyable experience by decorating the floors with curved patterns and green skylights, bringing natural light into the basement, and turning the stair landing into a play area. We took advantage of the roof of our family’s factory warehouse to create a spa and garden area, creating several relaxation spaces with views of the hills. Differently arranged relaxation spaces relieve everyone’s stress when returning home. Everyone feels that this house is just for them.
Each stop of the stairs is a resting point as we move from one floor to another, and the middle point connects the floors. Now, it is designed to be a place for entertainment and relaxation, connecting the whole family. The skylight and curves created from the stairs, balcony, walls and roof create great appeal and interest to the house. It helps everyone in the house look from one floor to another, creating an invisible connection between family members.
