Mountain Education Group (MEG), China’s leading education group operating in bilingual schools K-12 and global reference at Les Roches higher education business school, yesterday officially celebrated its exclusive collaboration in China. Through a strategic alliance, the two parties plan to develop a unique network of higher education universities in the field of hospitality in China starting with the first campus in Shanghai in 2025.

The agreement provides for the expansion of the Les Roches brand throughout China, starting with the opening of the first campus in Shanghai planned for 2025. The partners plan to open 3 to 4 campuses across the country (Shanghai, Wuxi, Suzhou…).

Les Roches will be responsible for developing academic curricula, as well as implementing standard policies.

The partners’ first iconic achievement will be “Shanghai Mountain Les Roches Campus”, a highly ambitious project that presents a unique model of education and architectural design for the city of Shanghai.

Shanghai Mountain Les Roches Campus will adopt an educational model based on academic learning and strong integration of practice within the curriculum. The core team, academic team and core teachers will be recruited by Les Roches Global Hospitality Education. The school’s teaching curricula will be aligned with those of the Les Roches campus in Switzerland and vocational education will be integrated with university education.

MEG will be responsible for all financial investments, land acquisition, architectural design, campus or project construction, licenses and permits, financial management, student recruitment and logistical arrangements.

Campus design is divided into two phases. The project has entered the first phase of the design and planning phase. The campus building will be designed and built by a team of world-renowned designers and Pritzker Prize winners. Confirmed winners of the Pritzker Prize are: Álvaro Siza (Portugal) and Tadao Ando (Japan). In addition, MEG has invited Peter Zumthor, designer of Swiss National Treasures and winner of the 2009 Pritzker Prize, to join the design of this impressive campus project. Other team designers include Guo Xien and Hu Rushan, founding partners of Ruen Design Research Office, Liu Yichun, chief architect of Dashe Architecture Design, and Fan Beilei, founder of Geng Architecture.

Les Roches will also support MEG in the pre-opening phase of the campus through project management as well as facilities development, operations, marketing and enrollment.

The detailed program offer will be implemented in 2023, based on Les Roches academic standards and meeting the needs of the Chinese hospitality industry.
