She said homeowners spend more than they need to, and her trick saves money even when shopping at Pottery Barn.
This lady must know what she’s talking about. She has learned a few tricks of the trade along the way.
She spends most of her work day searching online for cheap home design deals.
“How to save money on furniture,” said Vancouver-based Carmen Javier (@carmenjavierco), who has 34,000 TikTok followers.
“[You]can literally save hundreds of dollars when you shop for furniture online,” she wrote.

“I’m an interior designer, and I source for and shop for clients across the United States and Canada on a daily basis.
“I comb through hundreds if not thousands of items looking for the best prices.”
She was willing to share her trade secret and it was relatively simple.
“(First) you will find the item you were looking for.”
I used a coffee table from Pottery Barn as an example, which retails in the US for $949.
“On a computer, you would right-click and then click ‘Find Images with Google,’” she asked.
“Basically, you get a curated list of every furniture store that carries the same table, too.
“First, you want to know the actual name of the item.
“Most furniture stores are wholesale brands, which means they buy from another brand and then change the name and change the price.”
I used the example from Four Hands called the Me Surround Coffee Table and found the best price on Lulu, Georgia with a ticket price of $749 for this Placida Round Coffee Table.
Don’t be in a rush to get out just yet, she warned. Check if Lulu and George are offering any discount codes first.
If shoppers are buying more than one item, I suggested purchasing them all from one store, which will give you the lowest shopping rate and lowest retail prices overall.
It can also save you 10 to 20 percent on shipping costs.
“If you can have all your purchases in one store, you only have one shipping cost,” Carmen said.
Some commenters came up with their own advice for the opponent.
This person’s suggestion was typical of others.
“Leave the item in your cart and walk away. Some stores will offer you a discount on your abandoned items after two to five days.
This person has already tried Carmen’s advice: “I did this and saved $500 on an arched curio cabinet.”
But there was some caution with this viewer.
“Great advice. I would just make sure to check the site reviews because some sellers have bad service if anything goes wrong or you want to return.
