On a mural painted at the new Green Valley Brewing Company in Hudson, a man in a green shirt holds a beer out the window of a Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad car.

Green Valley Brewing Company co-owner John McGroarty poses in front of a mural painted by bartender/artist Sharkayla Bender.

The figure in the green T-shirt represents John McGroarty, co-owner of the new beer café he started at 53 Milford Drive, just east of downtown, with his wife, Emily, and friends Nick and Beth Speck of Medina.

McGroarty is the brewer at the brewery, which opened on October 28, and now features 10 beers on tap that include a Tree Farm Holiday Ale with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and brown sugar.

Bartender and artist Sharkayla Bender is the talent behind the large mural on the back wall of Green Valley’s taproom. It depicts the Station Road Bridge in Brecksville framing a picturesque railway scene with the “Green Valley” train traveling amid the greenery of Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
