We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again: Brooklyn is Manhattan’s coolest neighborhood, thriving with chic hotels, trendy restaurants, and trendy boutiques. Upon checking in, I noticed how airy the atmosphere permeated the lobby with soaring 20-foot ceilings and natural design elements: light hardwood trim, modern lighting fixtures, and green foliage decorating the open space. Moxy’s playful nature is on display, from the pop art painted skateboard wall decor to the vintage arcade machine for guests’ enjoyment. There’s a stunning piece behind the reception desk: an art installation made entirely of crayons that displays the underside of the Williamsburg Bridge at sunrise, looking out from Brooklyn toward the Manhattan skyline.
Staying true to the theme, an elevator decorated with alphabet letters leads visitors to 216 rooms and suites. Studio-style compacts are outfitted with space-saving amenities: upholstered beds with built-in storage compartments, fold-out wall stationery, hidden closet shelving, and built-in bathrooms, to name a few. Simple artwork, including a stencil-designed wood headboard, accompanies the room’s cool-toned color palette.
