The ancient trees of Florence are at the heart of an art project

The huge arboreal heritage of Florence becomes the protagonist of a new photographic project thanks to I Testimoni del Nostro Tempo: the exhibition included in the Green Factory Festival, finds space in the Roster Tepidarium, inside the horticultural garden of the Tuscan capital. Open until November 19, for the duration of the event, the exhibition brings together a series of snapshots dedicated to the majestic trees inhabiting the grounds of Florence: images specially created by students of the Photography Department of the Accademia Italiana Firenze. GLI snapshots for photography students in Florence The photo exhibition, curated by teachers Chiara Riberti and Dario Orlandi, presents an unprecedented “map” of the centuries-old trees that inhabit Florence and its surrounding municipalities, giving life to a fantastic kaleidoscope that invites the observer to enjoy these “inhabitants”. The majestic people of Florence have a completely new look. The photographic works displayed inside the Tepidarium del Roster, an ancient greenhouse dating back to the 19th century, celebrate the beauty and symbolism of the tree, envisioned as a source of life and protection in the works of Martina Cimboli, as an expression of wisdom in The Portrait of Alice Balchetti, as a place of renewal in Stefania Squitieri’s series, and once… Other as a symbol of the encounter between man and God in the visual experiments of Lorenzo Ligio. Every component of the plant enters the lenses of young photographers: from the leaves to the fruits, even the bark and roots. Among the works on display, stand out are Luis Gerardo Sánchez Serrano and Emilia Gatineau’s shots with Alice Euffredi, which reflect pinhole and blue pattern photography techniques, and Lara Podraco, which celebrates the uniqueness of trees by amplifying their all-encompassing grandeur. The new edition of GREEN FACTORY The guests of the Green Factory par excellence, the Florentine event that celebrates the theme of regeneration and green spaces, are students of the Accademia Italiana, the high school for fashion, design, graphics and photography. The different “spirits” of the Academy tell, through their own languages, the sustainable future of urban planning, fashion and design: from the “green” fashion show created by the fashion team, to the street furniture elements made from materials recycled from the two-year product design course, right through to the works of art.
