Textual description provided by the architects. Casa da Lagoa is a weekend getaway for a family living in the capital, and this seaside apartment has found a haven in the middle of nature. One of the main guiding principles of the project was to create as many openings as possible in the front of the plot to allow sunrises and fantastic views of Lagoa da Pinguela. As a result, the plan is organized so that the social area faces forward, and the back area is narrower due to the trapezoidal shape of the floor. Therefore, the ground floor organizes the social area (kitchen, living room, dining room, barbecue, toilet and courtyard) and the upper floor organizes the intimate area (suites and private living room).

To create privacy for the family, 5 sliding panels were created that allow the creation of open or closed spaces on the ground floor in different positions, whether to have a more intimate moment with family and friends or to control the fall of the sun. Upon entering the residence, we already have a view of the backyard, which follows the measurements of the internal social area. This makes it possible to maximize natural lighting, cross-ventilation and increased contact with nature, even from inside the house.

The main façade received a wood treatment in the same colors as the wood used internally, which contrasts with the irregular basalt floors and walls and the monolithic Tecnocimento finish linings. In addition to the durability and ease of maintenance of these materials, their applications enhance the timeless character of the home’s architecture.

In addition to the rooms that constitute a traditional residence, there was a special request for a wine cellar. The customers are very passionate about wine and that is why the environment was initially created during the architectural design of the building and required a lot of care. Its semi-buried location, cyclopean concrete wall, construction made of basalt blocks and Styrofoam, and a tube buried three meters deep to cool the air in the room were among the strategies used after a specific consultation on passive air conditioning.

Casa da Lagoa is an example of the studio’s complete works. If, on the one hand, the development of the architectural design of the building gives shape to the house and defines the relationship between spaces and the outside, on the other hand, interior architectural design solves more specific needs of the family and translates its character throughout all environments.
