“As we continue to develop educational programs for our new Designer Theater at Market, we are eager to launch this collaboration with Science in Design this fall,” said Kenzie Reddick, vice president of marketing, interior design and brand management for Hooker Furnishings. “This series represents leading design firms and educational institutions from across the country, and will provide tools and insights our partners can use to make positive impacts on their businesses.”
Taking place in the Hooker Furnishings showroom located on the third floor of Showplace, the event includes two educational sessions offered by Design Sciences faculty as well as the debut of an exclusive experiential event called iMotions, which uses biometric sensors to analyze the emotional reactions of an indoor space.
“For the first time at High Point Market, our iMotions Technology Experience Center will provide visitors the opportunity to interact with cutting-edge tools that can help guide their design process,” said Mike Peterson, founder of Science in Design. “By using eye tracking and facial expression analysis, iMotions provides ‘emotional spell checking’ not only for interior spaces, but also for displays and marketing materials.”
“Leading consumer brands are using this technology to better understand customer experiences and product performance by measuring visual interest in key messages in product advertising, placement and branding, packaging design, visual merchandising and more,” added Linda Kafka, co-founder of Science at. design.
