Downtown Phoenix hotels within walking distance of Footprint Center

Footprint Center, the downtown Phoenix basketball arena that is home to the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury and concerts by the Jonas Brothers, Tool (who will return for two shows in 2024) and Rod Stewart, is within walking distance of at least 10 hotels.
Suns fans will flock to the arena for home games throughout the NBA season, including upcoming matchups with the Los Angeles Lakers, Oklahoma City Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves. By July 2024, the Footprint Center will host the WNBA All-Star Game.
The coming months are scheduled to see long-awaited concerts by artists such as The Eagles and Bad Bunny, who previously sold out at nearby Chase Field.

Kimpton Palomar Phoenix Hotel

This boutique hotel, which features 450-square-foot guest rooms and amenities including in-room yoga mats and aromatherapy, is the closest hotel to the Footprint Center. Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix is part of the CityScape complex of dining, dining and entertainment, and is located near many downtown landmarks. The hotel recently renovated its rooftop bar and gave it a new name, Eden, as part of a revamp of its food and beverage offerings.

Courtyard Phoenix Downtown and Residence Inn Phoenix Downtown

These two Marriott hotels occupy the same building on Central Avenue next to the historic Luhrs Building. The Courtyard offers a mix of guest rooms and suites, while all Residence Inn suites feature kitchens. The fourth floor of the Courtyard is home to Little Rituals, which Tales of the Cocktail recently named the best hotel bar in the United States.

Hyatt Regency Phoenix

Located opposite the Phoenix Convention Center, this hotel is one of two Hyatt hotels in downtown Phoenix, with 693 rooms and suites that attract group travel business people as well as people in town for ballgames and concerts. Its options range from 300-square-foot rooms with city views or balconies to a family suite with a king bed and bunk sofa. If you’re feeling luxurious, book the 1,400-square-foot Presidential Suite on the 21st floor, which has a dining area and bar. The Hyatt Regency is also where you’ll find the revolving restaurant, The Compass, which offers 360-degree views of the city skyline.

Renaissance Phoenix Downtown

Easily recognizable for its distinctive exterior consisting of a row of aluminum fins and a corner that lights up at night, Renaissance Phoenix Downtown’s character doesn’t stop there. A step inside reveals an abundance of modern urban decor. The rooms, each at least 354 square feet, have 55-inch televisions and 24-hour room service. The Renaissance Hotel, which recently hosted President Joe Biden, is also home to Melinda’s Talking Alley. You can find it by looking for a single red light under a mural called “Malinda” on the north wall of the hotel.

Sheraton Phoenix Downtown
Distance from center of footprint: 0.4 mile, about 10 minute walk via Third and Jefferson Streets.
The Sheraton Phoenix Downtown has 1,003 rooms, the most of any hotel in Arizona. It’s a critical hub for metro Phoenix’s convention business, and it’s close enough to the Footprint Center that you might find fans wearing Suns jerseys among teachers, health care workers or players in town for a convention. The Sheraton recently introduced new business amenities to meet the needs of business travelers and locals who work remotely, such as private workspaces called studios that are designed to accommodate small meetings. Visitors can sample Sonoran-style cuisine using local and indigenous ingredients at Carcara Restaurant, or enjoy views of downtown at the fourth-floor Breeze Bar & Grill.

The Italian Renaissance-inspired hotel, built in 1928, is among the most haunted hotels in Arizona, a history that stems from two months after its opening when a young woman named Leon Jensen jumped to her death from the hotel’s seventh floor. Guests and staff have reported seeing the ghostly figure of a woman wandering the halls. But it’s not just ghost hunters who appreciate the hotel.
